I am the Legal Practice Director of Appius Lawyers. In my practice I aim to provide my clients with a pragmatic and cost-effective solution; always keeping in mind and foreshadowing to my clients the commercial realities of legal disputes. Admitted as a practitioner of the Supreme Court in November 1984, Justin has practised as a lawyer since 1986. He has had a varied career, working mostly for small to medium sized firms both in the Metropolitan area and the Country. He has extensive experience in in the areas of Criminal Law, Civil litigation, Personal Injuries, Conveyancing, Family law, Industrial Law, and Wills and Probate. He has represented many clients in diverse litigious matters including criminal proceedings, civil claims, family law parenting and property matters, and restraining orders. A keen historian, he divides his time spare time between writhing articles for a national railway history magazine, and using his half century of youth service experience to help manage an Air Force cadet unit.
With extensive experience in administration and paralegal support, I bring a unique blend of professionalism and warmth to our law firm, ensuring everything runs seamlessly behind the scenes. Know for my dedication and friendly approach making me a trusted point of contact for colleagues and clients feel supported throughout their legal journey.
I graduated with a Juris Doctor from the Australian National University and started practising law in 2020. Before practising law, I was fortunate to spend nearly 30 years as a university professor in education and engineering across Hong Kong, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Serbia, and Australia. During that time, I enjoyed teaching, conducting research, and publishing my work widely. This journey helped me develop strong skills in analytical thinking, clear communication, and decision-making based on solid evidence.
Coming from the Balkans, I speak Serbian–Croatian fluently, which helps me understand different cultural perspectives and support my clients in their native language with ease.
I practice in restraining orders (FVRO/VRO/MRO) and criminal defence, providing practical advice and strong representation to support our clients through challenging times. I also assist with family law issues like parenting, property, and divorce, as well as employment law concerns such as unfair dismissals, contract disputes, and general protections. Additionally, I can help with immigration law matters, including AAT appeals and judicial reviews.
In addition to litigation, I provide mediation support, particularly for disputes in information technology, engineering, higher education, human resources, and other professional fields, facilitating the resolution of complex issues efficiently and with integrity.
